Ann Hardcastle

Kilgore

Being a retired special education teacher, I now have time to do the things I truly enjoy. I enjoy writing, reading, painting, traveling, and playing the piano. Since my three children are grown and have their own families, I have even more time to do these things.

Since I was raised on a south Texas ranch, that experience led me to my first book “Whispers of Fate” followed by the sequel “Whispers of the Heart”. My traveling spirit led me to my third book, “The White Cheyenne”. This book came to mind on a trip to the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

I currently live in the country with my husband where we enjoy watching the wildlife that encompass us from time to time.

I would hope my readers enjoy my books as I have enjoyed writing them.

The White Cheyenne

It was 1870, a young girl, Little Wide Shadow, tried her best to fit into her Cheyenne tribe. With a short attention span, and a stubborn streak, plus a mind of her own, she did not make her trials to fit in very easy on herself. She was consistently punished for her antics to the point her given name, Little Wide Shadow, was changed to K-Ox. She received the new name with pride as she would not show any shame. She knew the name meant chaos.

This story is about the life of Catherine, a white captive. However, she did not know her identity until she was older. Secrets, whispers, snickers behind her back caused many problems for Catherine. Like catching things on fire, used as a decoy and sent in the middle of a wild buffalo herd, responsible for deaths of braves all unintentional to name a few.

This book is about identity discovery, unconditional love, survival, adventure, fear, and mystery. It is an emotional journey in her life as she knew it. You will be pulled into this story and find yourself hoping her journey will be a safe journey, as well as a successful one.

Whispers of Fate

Hardy rode up to the Willy ranch, dismounted and tied her horse to a fence post next to the barn. Hearing screaming from inside and a big barn door in her face that was swung open, Hardy slams the door back. Hearing a thud on the other side of the barn door, she runs to see what happened. When she reached the door, her best friend, Bilie Jo, comes scooting out butt naked. Hardy jumps to her rescue and covers her naked body and see who she hit with the barn door. A naked man was on the floor and was apparently out cold. To make sure, Hardy grabs a 2 x 4 and slams it up against his head. Checking once more on Billie Jo, she explains she is leaving River Bend and asked her if she was willing and ready to go with her. Through tears, she replies she is ready. The girls only have their horses for transportation, but they both are packed and very familiar with the ranches in their area, they head out of Texas. They both are experienced barrel racers in Texas, and their plan is to find the rodeos, and enter the barrel racing events to earn money to get to Montana where they plan on buying a ranch and settling down.

Do they make it? What trouble crosses their path on the way. Open page one of this book, and you will be pulled into this wild adventure.

Ms. Kilgore weaves an entertaining family life in a dysfunctional family. I endorse this book. The characters have their own flaws but still achieve.

Curtis B.Kindle - Whispers of Fate Book

This book was a wonderful story of two friends who face many challenges. It reads like a western until items pop up to remind you this is Texas in 1969. I enjoyed not being able to predict what was going to happen next. I looking forward to Ann Hardcastle Kilgore's next book.
